St Vincent de Paul Youth After-School Service Projects at East Campus

Sixth and fifth graders, in the St. Vincent DePaul Youth Conference at our East Campus, are tying flannel blankets as one of their after-school service projects. Completed blankets will be donated to the Martha and Mary House in Johnstown and to the missions in Haiti. The students, who stay after school for one hour, have completed eighteen blankets so far.

Other after-school service projects this year include packing food in the backpack program at the Learning Lamp, food distribution at Vo-Tech in the Produce for People program, and serving at Community Breakfasts at St. Benedict Parish.

An upcoming Lenten project will involve packing Jared boxes with small toys and activities to be distributed to children at Conemaugh Hospital.

We are proud to note that the entire sixth grade class at the East campus has joined the SVdP Youth Conference this year. Kudos to all our service-oriented students and to the SVdP Youth advisors Miss Becky Lear and Mrs. Marsha Radkowski.
