Religious Education is an integral part of Divine Mercy Catholic Academy, and a new program last year enabled our seventh and eighth grade students to learn about the Consecrated Life through three special field trips: a visit with the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart at their retreat house in Munster, with the campus ministry directors at St. Francis University in Loretto, and with a priest and deacon of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Windber.
The Independent Catholic Foundation, based in Altoona, made these experiences possible through a generous grant in the amount of $2,168. In cooperation with Bishop McCort Catholic High School, the DMCA Parent Teacher Organization and private donors, the Independent Catholic Foundation grant covered transportation and other costs of the project.
Each retreat held its own spiritual rewards for our students, and the DMCA administration and faculty are sincerely grateful to the Independent Catholic Foundation for making these important experiences possible.
