Halloween Parade

Halloween Parade

Divine Mercy Catholic Academy's 2017 Halloween Parade will be held indoors at the Galleria Mall on Thursday, October 26, at 9:45 AM. This will be a fun opportunity for all of our students in Kindergarten thru Grade 8 to come together and celebrate All Hallow's Eve. Also known as Halloween, it's really the day before All Saint's Day. Students and teachers from all three DMCA campuses will ride buses to the Galleria, thanks to a generous donation from Thomas Team Honda. We will then parade in costume the entire ground floor of the Mall, beginning at AAA near Sears, down the main hall to Boscovs and back again. Parents and spectators are welcome to come to the Galleria to see our parade, take photos and join the fun. There will be plenty of parking, and since we will be inside, there should be no weather worries. All students will return…

Major Gift Advances Stream Curriculum Happening At Divine Mercy

Major Gift Advances Stream Curriculum Happening at Divine Mercy

Divine Mercy Catholic Academy has received a major gift that will be used to procure a new state of the art STREAM Program for grades Pre-K through 8. STREAM is an extension of STEM, a curriculum that centers around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. DMCA’s program expands those core elements to include the Religion and Art components. We will be the only school in the area to employ this comprehensive approach. Our program will utilize portions of the LEGO® Education System. A donor has stepped forward to finance the initial acquisition of the LEGO® materials and the staffing of a STREAM director, while the school is actively seeking other contributions to insure sustainability of the program for many years to come. We are grateful to our donor and excited as DMCA is building far into the future--one LEGO® block at a time! Come witness the difference at Divine Mercy! The…

DMCA Students: Come Sing With Us!

DMCA Students: Come Sing with Us!

We invite all DMCA students in Grades 3-8 to join the Greater Johnstown Diocesan Youth Chorale. This group rehearses each Tuesday after school from dismissal until 4 PM at the West Campus of Divine Mercy (beginning Tuesday September 5),  and also on Sunday evenings from 6 to 7:15 PM (beginning September 10) at St John Gualbert Cathedral. Students may attend just one rehearsal each week, but coming to both rehearsals is best for the good of the group. We hope our parents will prayerfully consider this opportunity for your student(s) to participate in worship through this very worthwhile ministry. The Chorale gives our young people the opportunity to learn many different styles of liturgical music, and it is deeply appreciated by the thousands of viewers who watch the live televised Mass each Sunday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Our Chorale brightens the day of so many shut-ins and nursing home…

About Better Communications, Web Photos And Dress Code

About Better Communications, Web Photos and Dress Code

Our first days of school have been terrific. We’re building on our community’s heritage of fine Catholic education, and we - the staff, students and teachers - are  endeavoring to give our students the very best foundation possible. We’re making some improvements this year, including the way we share information with you. We're working to make our web site more informative, and we're planning to take professional photos at all three campuses so the illustrations on our web site reflect current dress code. Please rest assured that we will not post photographs of students on the web or in any publication, unless we have parent permission through a signed photo release form. We want to remind everyone of our dress code at Divine Mercy. A very significant aspect of Catholic education involves teaching kids to get to know one another based on who they are, not just who has the trendiest…

New Reward$ Program Announced

New Reward$ Program Announced

Divine Mercy Catholic Academy is pleased to formally announce three new initiatives that we hope will encourage and help parents to give their children a Catholic Education. We are calling it Reward$ for Families, and we believe it is the first multi-pronged program of its kind in this region. Reward$ began a few weeks ago with modifications to our School Fundraising Policy. Now we are announcing our Early Learners Credit Initiative. Students who attend Divine Mercy Catholic Academy from Kindergarten through Grade 3 will be rewarded with $1,440 in tuition credits, which will be applied to lower their Grade 4 tuition. This will apply to every student in every family who attends Divine Mercy, and is intended to help our youngest learners get the best start possible. In addition we are announcing the Divine Mercy Ambassadors Program, whereby we are asking our parents to speak up and encourage their friends,…
